Junior Road Safety Officers' Page

Each year at RDM we appoint two P6 pupils to be the Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs).

They do the following:

  • Give out information about road safety
  • Keep our noticeboard up to date
  • Organise competitions
  • Do surveys (eg how pupils get to school)
  • Create a Travel Plan which gives information about the school and the road safety issues round it
  • Do PowerPoints at assemblies
  • Organise walks round Scone
  • Work with the Eco Committee to make the school a better place

The JRSOs did a survey of where all the pupils lived so that they could think about issues to do with safe travel to school. Here is their map.

Here is how to cross the road safely:
When we arrive at the crossing, Fred says hello, with a smile.
Fred tells us to WAIT until the cars have gone and it is safe to cross.
Then Fred stands in the middle of the road and puts up his STOP sign. We wait at the pavement until he is ready for us to cross.

Finally we WALK across the road without stopping and say thank you as we pass him.

We then go home safely.
